Shi Ming is a Chinese-German journalist and publicist for German-language media, in particular Deutsche Welle, ARD, ZDF and leading print media such as SZ, FAZ and taz as well as Le Monde diplomatiqué. He studied German and law at the University of Foreign Languages in Beijing. In 1995 he was awarded the CIVIS Prize for Radio, in 2008 he received the Bavarian Television Prize and in 2010 he was awarded the Grimme Prize for the documentary “Tiananmen - 20 Years after the Massacre”. He has been advising various German companies, foundations, and the government since 1995. From 2004 to 2012, Shi Ming was a member of the Executive Committee of the PEN Center Germany (Abbreviation PEN stands for „Poets, Essayists, Novelists“). He was a Senior Fellow at MERICS in summer 2024.
